Recruitment Consultant, are you ready for these 10 scenarios?
Imagine… you are applying for a job as a Recruitment Consultant. One of the job requirements are that you are tenacious, persevere and demonstrate a positive attitude at all times. Why do you think would that be required?
Well, you might face different situations — some or all of them — which might come up unexpectedly and maybe in the last minute.
Let me give you a better understanding of various scenarios that you might face in your job as a Recruitment Consultant:
# 1 — You find a client, but no suitable candidates.
# 2 — You find an excellent candidate, but can’t find a suitable hiring company.
# 3 — You have a client and a good candidate, but the candidate doesn’t turn up for the interview.
# 4 — You have a client, but he tells you in the last minute that he already found someone else (while you were about to present him your best shortlisted candidates).
# 5 — You find a client, send your Top 3 candidates there, but none of them gets hired.
# 6 — Your client hires your candidate, but before the candidate starts his new job, he wants to offer him a lower salary as initially agreed.
# 7 — Your candidate doesn’t want the job anymore that has been offered to him/her. The recruitment agency and the client need to start looking for the right match all over again.
# 8 — The candidate wants to get a higher salary as initially agreed. Fact is, his current employer made a counter-offer and increased his current salary. The candidate decides in the last minute that he wants to remain in his/her old job.
# 9 — The company hires the candidate, but is not satisfied with the new hire and fires him before the probationary period is over.
# 10 — The candidate accepts the job offer, but realises after some time that the job is not what s/he expected. S/He decides to quit before the probationary period is over. The search starts all over again.
In the recruitment industry you might often hear that people are people, and not products. Therefore, you don’t have full control of what is going to happen in the near future. Peoples’ circumstances might often suddenly change and you can’t fully rely on their commitments, neither from the candidate’s side neither from the client’s side. You will need to put in a lot of effort and sometimes you might feel that time and effort is being wasted. But once you are able to place someone the feeling can be very rewarding, emotionally as well as financially.
You might have realised that the journey can be quite long until you can say for sure that you placed someone! Working as a Recruitment Consultant is not always a smooth task but it can be highly challenging and if you are ambitious and determined by nature you can succeed!
So, are you prepared for it? Yes? Then go and apply for the job. If not, you may want to reconsider whether this is the right job for you or not.
